Port Vila, Vanuatu – Last week, coalition partners gathered together in Vanuatu for the Shiftting the Power Coalition (StPC) Annual Partners Meeting 2024. The meeting took place from 23-27 September in Ramada, Port Vila aiming to strengthen partnerships and reflect on the coalition’s journey over the past three years.
In her opening remarks, Regional Representative Carolyn Kitione highlighted the importance of this gathering as a time to reconnect, strategize, and build solidarity. “This week provides us with an opportunity to present our collective work, recognize what has been achieved, and identify what more needs to be done,” Kitione stated.
The coalition, formed in 2016 in response to the devastating impacts of Tropical Cyclones Pam and Winston, was created to amplify women’s leadership in disaster management across the Pacific.
Partners from across the Pacific took part in the meeting, including representatives from Bougainville Women's Federation ActionAid Vanuatu, ActionAid Australia, Nazareth Centre for Rehabilitation, Transcend Oceania, Fiji Disabled Peoples Federation, Vois Blong Mere Solomon, YWCA Solomon Islands, Talitha Project Tonga, Vanuatu Disability Promotion & Advocacy Association (VDPA), Vanuatu Young Women for Change, Pacific Disability Forum, and the Hauskuk Initiative.
This event is supported by Pacific Women Lead at the Pacific Community (SPC).
