120626 Re-Election and Induction for South Bougainville Region Commences in Buin

The Bougainville Women’s Federation (BWF) has commenced the final phase of its regional re-election and induction program in Buin, South Bougainville, marking an important step towards completing the Federation’s leadership renewal process.

Following the successful re-election and induction of the Central Bougainville Regional Executive, attention has now shifted to South Bougainville, where women leaders from across the region have gathered to elect their new Regional President and executive team.

The election is being held today at the South Bougainville Women’s Innovation Hub in Buin and will be followed by an official induction workshop at the Mamaromino Centre. The completion of the South Bougainville election is expected to further strengthen the Federation’s leadership, governance, and ability to effectively represent women throughout Bougainville.

Women from the districts of Buin, Bana, Siwai, and Torokina arrived in Buin to participate in the important event, demonstrating their commitment to advancing women’s leadership and representation within the Federation.

Several stakeholders and development partners are also present to witness and support the event, including Abt Bougainville Partnership, the ABG Department of Community Development, and the Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner.

Following the election, newly elected leaders will participate in a series of induction and capacity-building sessions designed to strengthen their leadership and governance skills.

Topics to be covered include Grant Agreement Requirements and Required Information, facilitated by Abt Bougainville Partnership; Roles and Responsibilities of Executive Members, presented by the ABG Department of Community Development; Accountability and Ethical Code of Conduct, facilitated by the Bougainville Women’s Federation; and Financial Management and Resource Mobilisation, delivered by the BWF Finance Team.

The re-election and induction program forms part of BWF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s leadership structures and ensure effective representation of women at all levels across Bougainville.
